I visited Celebration House last month and found it very helpful. My only problem is that I would like to have my wedding on a beach, with the ceremony and reception together. Please could you let me know who I can contact for permission and what channels I will have to go through to get the permits?
Thanks and kind regards
Kira
Dear Kira To have a wedding on the beach in Cape Town, you will need permission from the Department of Parks and Bathing Amenities Services, contactable at dgalant@cct.org.za, or fax: (021) 425-2685. There is no charge for having the ceremony on the beach, but in the case of a large function that entails setting up chairs, trestles etc, they need to review the application in order to assess whether a charge will be levied. If you are using the services of a wedding coordinator, he or she will be able to acquire the necessary permit for you. Bear in mind, too, that the drinking of alcohol is not permitted on beaches in Cape Town.
I hope this helps. All the best with the rest of your planning.
Best wishes
Pam
